Semi- brown rice is polished a bit more to remove little bit of the husk.

Its calorific value is 82 and GI is 50 in comparison to white rice which has 62 calories and GI of 72. Thus making it recommendable for diabetes patients.

Brown rice is a good source of selenium helpful in maintaining thyroid health. It is also a good source of magnesium.

Brown rice is also rich in phenols and flavonoids that help reduce damage to cells and reduce the risk of premature aging.
